Why do I paint dogs?
I think my background as a cartoonist helps me capture the look of a particular dog which is not always easy so easy sometimes especially as people know their dogs better than I do so it is always a challenge to get it right. For me it is all about the painting and what evolves but painting commissions means I can experiment with a look and feel but I always have to start and finish with an accurate painting of the subject. That is what makes it challenging; with commissions it is not just any dog but YOUR dog....
