When I gave a class for the younger artist during my solo exhibition in Glenelg I was impressed with their single minded approach. THey did not want to listen to me rabbiting but got stuck in painting their Herbie the black cat. https://channel.louisiana.dk/video/karin-mamma-andersson-advice-young
This is my painting of Sheila which I have entered in the Doug Moran Portrait Exhibition. It was painted upside down: not me but my drawing a photo reference. I like this process as it turns the portrait into a abstract but when I flip it over it becomes a portrait again.
Looking forward to giving some painting classes to dedicated wine drinkers like myself down in McLaren Vale. Looks like a new start date in November for the wine and art experience.
Here is a wonderful video on the late great Howard Hodgkin. I met him at an exhibition of his prints in Belfast several years ago.
One of the remaining great London based artists Leon Kossoff has died. His thick painting style was similar to his friend and colleague Frank Aurerbach.
My painting of Ian Adam of Dabblebrook Wines is hanging at the Lake Breeze winery in Langhorn Creek. Worth a visit as there are 3 venues showing a fine range of portraiture. Dabblebrook Wines is a favorite of ours in the McLaren Vale region and I would recommend a visit if you like your vino.
Yesterday in stormy Glenelg I held a class for kids to draw their own Herbie the black cat. I drew my Herbie and then let them off the leash and they had a great time. What imagination and even had a Herbie in Outer Space. Great fun
